Bounts branding

iMotiva was a new startup on a mission to improve the health & fitness of the nation. Their fitness tracking app pairs with existing devices such as FitBit, FuelBand and Jawbone to help monitor all your activity. Uniquely, it then repays your effort with points which count towards products and high street rewards.

With partnership from councils around the UK and a tie-in with Glasgow 2014, the company shows great promise. But they had a problem: a clunky sounding name, and no brand identity to grab the public’s attention. They invited Studio Output to help create a new brand, capturing the idea of ‘activity rewards’.

Through a series of workshops, we defined what the product is, what it does, who it’s for and why they should care about it. We built on this process to devise a new name, strapline and visual identity. ‘Bounts’ are both the points you collect and the name of the app, and the ‘coin’ device represents the social currency they will become.

We created a short brand book, and we will be working closely with the client to develop the app itself. We’re also making investor films and a website, which you can see at bounts.it
