We were very pleased to be asked by BBC Radio 2 to work on their flagship annual event ‘Live in Hyde Park’. Targeting families and adults between the ages of 30–50, we created new branding for the event which would appeal to the core Radio 2 listener and reach out to audiences of other BBC radio stations.
Referencing the event’s strapline, ‘A Festival in a Day’, we used a circular montage design to show the various stages of the event; from setting up the stage in the morning, to the end of day finale firework show. We coupled this with a naturalistic colour scheme that ties into the brand palette and crafted typography that takes its cues from traditional handwriting.
The outcome – which was rolled out across print, outdoor, online, a TV advert, animated stings and stage design – was extremely well received by Radio 2′s audience, and resulted in the event selling out within a week of tickets going on sale.
